A Message from the Founder and Managing Director of RE-BEN Rwanda

I, the founder and managing director of RE-BEN Rwanda, would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has trusted us since we officially started in April 2024. We are now proudly located in Kisimenti, IKAZE House, Floor 3, Office No 15.

The Inspiration Behind RE-BEN Rwanda

Every idea has a story, and the journey to creating RE-BEN Rwanda began in 2009, following a profound personal loss.

When my father passed away, our family was devastated. He was our pillar—spiritually, financially, and emotionally. At the time, he was a director of a semi-public institution in Rwanda. Despite his years of service, his pension contributions fell short of the requirements for retirement benefits. As a result, my mother and younger brother received a lump-sum allowance, which was both normal and legally correct.

However, there was a hidden challenge. During his tenure, my father faced difficulties at his workplace, and his salary was reduced in a manner that, let's say, wasn’t entirely lawful. He filed a complaint with the Ombudsman, but before the matter was fully resolved, he sadly passed away—nearly two years later.

My mother pursued the case on his behalf, and the employer eventually paid back the salary discrepancies. However, they neglected to update his pension contributions. Had those contributions been adjusted, even though my father wasn’t eligible for a monthly pension, his lump-sum benefit would have been significantly higher.

This experience opened my eyes to the complexities and challenges surrounding pensions and contributions.

Building RE-BEN Rwanda

While working with the Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) and managing pension applications, I gained in-depth knowledge about pension laws and contribution systems. This expertise fuelled my decision to create a consultancy firm dedicated to supporting individuals and institutions dealing with pension-related issues.
